Full Day Conference presented by the School Library Association of Victoria on Monday 23 March, 2009 at Telstra Dome

Featuring Will Richardson, leading US educator in the understanding and implementation of Web 2.0 strategies in schools.
Learning in the 21st Century is all about networks and the connections we can make to other learners and teachers both in our communities and around the globe. But being literate in this new learning environment requires more than knowing how to read and write. It requires us to edit, publish, collaborate, create and connect in the process of building our own personal learning spaces. How do we build our own networks in effective, ethical and safe ways? How do we incorporate the characteristics of autonomy, diversity, interactivity and openness into our own learning practice and, in turn, model and teach that to our children? We’ll explore the growing importance of “network literacy” in our learning lives.

Hear about Podcasts, Vodcasts and Screencasts, Effective use of Weblogs in Schools and hear from other teacher-librarians and teachers who are using Web 2.0 technology to enhance learning.
See: http://www.slav.schools.net.au/downloads/07conference/perspectives3_09.pdf
Thu, 12 Mar 2009 01:58:20 GMT Bright Ideas blog - over 10,000 hits! http://slav.globalteacher.org.au/ The Bright Ideas blog which was established by the School Library Association of Victoria in October last year to celebrate the use of Web 2.0 in learning and teaching has enjoyed over 10,000 hits so far.

Fri, 27 Feb 2009 04:25:33 GMT Learning to Learn series, State Library of Victoria http://www.slv.vic.gov.au/programs/brochure/index.html The State Library of Victoria's 'Learning to Learn' series looks at learning strategies and challenges occurring across community sectors: cultural institutions, schools, universities and TAFE, international colleges, and corporate consulting. It was great to know that the books were really wanted and that they will go directly to where there is need.
I rang ahead to say I was coming though they were happy with me being a bit vague about when. I asked for Clair Marsh - 9427 0055.
As parking is not easy. I would suggest two people coming together -one to stay in the car and the other to run in and ring the bell.
